Sunday River to Welcome Trek Across Maine June 17, 2016
On Friday, June 17, our resort will be inundated with thousands of enthusiastic cyclists from all walks of life, each with their own reason for making the Trek Across Maine‘s three-day journey from Sunday River to the sea. Right now, things here are pretty quiet, which is typical between the end of the ski season and the re-opening of our summer Mountain Park. But the Trek is really that summer kick-off for me. I love the tent city that pops up in front of my office at South Ridge, and the bustle of organizers and volunteers readying the resort for the many, many, many cyclists that come through.
I have many friends and co-workers who have made the trek from Bethel to Belfast. Maybe next year I’ll join the fun!
More information on the Trek Across Maine:
Sunday River is proud to be a long-time partner and supporter of the Trek Across Maine and the American Lung Association.
The Trek Across Maine is a three-day, 180-mile cycling event from the mountains of Sunday River to the sea in Belfast. As the largest fundraising event of its kind in the nation for the American Lung Association, the Trek has raised more than $22 million in the past 30 years. Over 2,000 cyclists and 750 volunteers take part in this in this one of a kind journey over Father’s Day Weekend ever year.
As the official start of the Trek, Sunday River provides lodging at the resort, dinner on Thursday night and breakfast Friday morning to fuel trekkers up for their ride.
